Welcome to the PE Faculty
As a former Sports College, PE has a strong role at Tibshelf and we value the benefits sport can bring to young people. We focus on developing not only good performance in sport, but also the wider key skills that students will use in everyday later life. We emphasise the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle and have a variety of extra-curricular options, available to all, to support students in their life choices.
PE is taught in all year groups across the school and students receive 2 hours a week of PE. They will be expected to fulfil a variety of roles within sport: performing, refereeing and leading.
Classes are generally set according to gender and ability in Key Stage 3, although there is more flexibility when they reach Key Stage 4 depending on the activities offered.
We have strong links with our local primary schools and these are reinforced through the sport leadership programme we offer in Year 10.
